Pick one setup

A trading plan is not a document you write to feel organised. It is the thing that makes your results measurable — without it you cannot tell whether a losing week was bad luck or a bad method.

One setup, one contract, one session. A setup is a specific, recurring market condition you can describe to another person clearly enough that they would identify it the same way. If your description needs the words 'usually' or 'it depends', it is not yet a setup.

Trade that single setup for a defined sample — 30 to 50 occurrences — before judging it or adding another. Most traders abandon workable methods after six trades because they mistake normal variance for failure.

Checkpoint

Roughly how many occurrences of a setup should you trade before judging it or adding another?
